Just to let you know, the Pearl S. Buck home and facilities are still closed until further notice. Your editors hope to offer a two meeting per month schedule for the rest of this season once health guidelines allow for it. We will keep you informed through this blog.
Spring 2020’s enforced “shelter in place” changes has caused a resurgence in board games, puzzles, and coloring books – all good relaxing, leisure activities. Separation has reactivated the dormant habits of writing letters, sending handmade cards and crafting gifts. Many of us are rediscovering the joy of both sending and receiving letters and packages, especially now that we’re home when they arrive.
Though reading and resting are both good for one’s health, try to carve out some writing time as well! Here is a link to Ray Bradbury’s answer to a Paris Review interviewer’s question about why he wrote.
The theme of our Pearl S. Buck Writing Center’s Literary Journal, Vol. 5, No. 1 – Summer 2020 is Visions. The deadline is April 30th. We’ve been getting some submissions, but welcome more. Click here for a link to our Submission Guidelines.
Your editors, Anne K. Kaler, Cynthia L. Louden, Susan E. Wagner and I, all wish you good health, continued safety and our collective hope that 2020 will help us all “envision” our best and most productive writing year yet!
That Ray Bradbury quote was the coolest. Thank you!!! Very electrifying —
